During the intensive air campaign this past week, some 50 Russian planes based in the Syrian government's heartland of Latakia have been active. The Russian defense ministry says the strikes have hit over 100 ISIL targets -- including command points, ammunition stores, and factories producing explosives -- since the campaign started on September 30th.

Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday that Russia launched a total of 112 airstrikes in Syria since the start of the operation on September 30th and that Russia operations in Syria were now intensified. Also Sergei Shoigu said that on Thursday Russia has summoned foreign militaries.... and requested to share intelligence on ISIL positions in Syria with Russia.... Moscow insisted its fighting ISIL in Syria, however there are widespread concerns that it's also tried to hit opposition forces and civilians. The defense minister also said that Russia is now ready to agree with a document with the US to coordinate their actions in Syria....The American and Russian military commanders took part in a security video conference to discuss their military operations in Syria one day after the Russian airstrikes began on Sept. 30th. And they said later these meetings will continue.
