Talks between China and the US on a bilateral investment treaty are going smoothly. That was the word Wednesday at a news briefing held by China's Ministry of Commerce.

Commerce Ministry Spokesperson Shen Danyang said the talks on the investment treaty between China and the US, quoting now, are "going smoothly".

"China and the US have carried out the 24th round of talks. Negotiations are going smoothly. Both countries have made the BIT talks the most important item in the commerce and trade sector. The industry at large also is holding high hopes for the BIT negotiations," said Shen Danyang, spokesperson of MOFCOM.

Shen also said China will push to accelerate investment talks with Europe.

"China and the EU have reached consensus on the range of the talks. In the next step, both sides will push to reach agreements on the main issues and core items that will lay the groundwork for talks on the negative list," Shen said.

The media also asked Shen if a trade law recently passed by the US would exert a negative impact on Chinese exports. Shen dismissed the thought and said that the trade law didn't specify any particular regions.
