MUNICH, Germany, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Top diplomats participating in a Syria support group meeting here have agreed to implement a nationwide cessation of hostilities soon in the war-torn Middle East country.

After a long day of talks hosted by the United States and Russia, members of the International Syria Support Group have also agreed to scale up the delivery of humanitarian aid in Syria.

Speaking to reporters early Friday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said a "cessation of hostilities" across Syria will be carried out within a week so as to reduce violence and allow delivery of humanitarian aid to besieged civilians.

He added that details of the truce, including ways to monitor and verify the ceasefire, have yet to be worked out.

The participants also called for an early resumption of the Geneva peace talks.
